A mastopexy, more commonly referred to as a breast lift, is
a surgical procedure that repositions and reshapes sagging
breasts. Mastopexy can also be performed to reduce the size
of the areola, the darker skin surrounding the nipple. Many
women find over the years that factors such as pregnancy,
nursing, and aging all contribute to changes in the shape
and firmness of their breasts.
During a mastopexy, only skin or a very small amount of
tissue is removed, therefore this procedure is not intended
as a breast reduction. There are many variations of the mastopexy
as an independent procedure; Some women will also add implants
to this procedure to restore their breasts to their youthful
fullness. Dr. Bittar will discuss your expectations and listen
to what you hope to achieve. Together, you and Dr. Bittar
will decide which form of mastopexy will accomplish the results
you desire.
